dET and F8 E2 on Maytag Washers: Dispenser Problems

dET indicates an undetected cartridge in a compatible Maytag model; F8 E2 points to the dispenser system. Identify the message before cleaning or changing settings.

Cartridge missing or not inserted correctly

For dET, the manufacturer documentation says to check the cartridge insertion and the drawer closure. First, confirm whether you will use automatic dosing or the supported manual alternative. A cartridge message does not require installing one when the model can operate with a single dose.

The system displays F8 E2

Look for detergent buildup on the drawer parts that the manual allows you to remove. With the cycle stopped, clean those parts and reinstall them correctly. Do not insert objects into internal channels or dilute the product with mixtures the manufacturer does not support.

If, after cleaning, the product still is not being used, note which compartment is affected and with which program. The route of dosing that does not dispense distinguishes no consumption from an incorrect amount.

A clean drawer does not confirm that the internal system is working, just as a recognized cartridge does not prove it is dispensing. If the warning returns, contact service with those two facts kept separate. Do not compensate for the presumed fault by adding a second dose without checking the active mode.

Keep the dispenser system name and the full message to avoid instructions from a different design.
