LOC or LC may appear on front-load Maytag models when Control Lock is enabled. The lock is cleared with the control assigned by the model, without interfering with the door latch.
Use the correct button
The manufacturer documentation warns that some Maytag models require a long press and others have a different control. Look on the panel for the lock function and confirm its exact operation in the manual before pressing several buttons.
After disabling it, try a simple panel selection. When LOC/LC disappears and the controls respond, that confirms the function. If the text changes, note the new alert; do not keep treating any lack of response as a child lock.
Why the door may still stay locked
The door may remain secured because there is water inside, the temperature is high, or parts are still moving, even though the controls can already be used. Clearing LOC does not authorize forcing it open. The explanation of the child lock and its limits separates button lock from door protection.
If the confirmed procedure does not restore control, report the model and the control used. If the panel is completely off, check the power supply along the appropriate path instead of looking for a button combination.
Control Lock is an operating feature; turning it off does not require disassembling or bypassing any safety lock.
