AE Error on LG Washers: Internal Leak Detection

AE indicates the detection of a possible internal leak in the LG front-loaders covered by this documentation. If water is visible, stop using the machine and turn off the water supply before considering a reset.

The LG front-load washer links AE to leak protection. The alert may require checking both the source of the water and the detection system; it does not point to a specific joint.

If there is water around

Turn off the valve if it is accessible from a safe area. Avoid touching the plug or cabinet if water is near electrical components. If you need to isolate power, do so from a dry, safe location or ask for professional help.

With the machine stopped and isolated, check accessible exterior connections and hoses. A drip at a connection is useful information; the absence of visible water outside does not rule out internal moisture.

Do not clear the alert by hiding the water

Do not tip the washer to empty a tray or bypass the detector. Even if AE disappears, those actions do not fix the source of the leak. Also do not run repeated cycles to try to find it.

If AE returns without an outside cause you can correct, request service. For any other LG model or architecture, first confirm that its manual assigns that meaning to AE.

Save a photo of the wet spot and the code without disassembling the unit; it will help locate the issue during the inspection.
