A comforter or blanket should only be washed in the available machine if its label and the manual allow it, and there is room for the item to be treated. Being able to fit it in and close the door is not enough.
Decide whether to accept or reject the load
Identify the cover, outer fabric, and filling. Check the seams, worn areas, and any restrictions for individual items. Assess dry weight, volume, and absorbency; do not use bed size as an automatic conversion to nominal kilograms.
Blanket, throw, coverlet, and comforter can refer to different constructions depending on the location. Decide based on the actual item. Weighted blankets and electric ones require additional checks.
Prepare an accepted item
- Remove the removable cover if applicable and wash each part according to its instructions.
- Treat stains and fasten closures before placing the item inside.
- Load it according to the approved bulky-items cycle, without packing it in to make room.
- Measure the product compatible with the filling and complete the allowed rinse and spin phases.
- Remove it with support and dry the interior areas as well before storing.
If knocking sounds appear or the machine cannot distribute the load, follow its pause procedure. Do not add objects as ballast or repeat spin cycles with an item the equipment does not accept.
When the home machine does not allow the process
Consult a service that can confirm the capacity and method for that item. A larger self-service machine does not by itself authorize a prohibited item or guarantee that the necessary drying is available.
If you cannot complete both washing and drying the item at home, confirm both services before transporting it.
