How to Use Self-Service or Shared Washing Machines

Before using a shared machine, read its instructions and check whether detergent is included. Choose the load based on the equipment limits and fabric care, not on trying to fill the drum completely.

Prepare before payment

  1. Sort and carry the laundry in protective packaging, with labels and special needs identified.
  2. Check the visible condition of the door, drum, and dispenser without taking anything apart or applying cleaners on your own.
  3. Check the capacity, cycle, and operator restrictions.
  4. Confirm whether detergent is included, which personal products are allowed, and how they should be measured.
  5. Load, select, and pay in the order indicated by the machine or the facility.

Coins, card, or app change how payment works, not fabric compatibility. Do not add the home dose to a system that already dispenses product.

If you are charged and it does not start

Record the machine ID, time, transaction, and receipt, and contact the operator. Do not repeat payments to test it, and do not insert tools into mechanisms, covers, or readers. Only check the normal actions indicated in the instructions.

Removal and special loads

Remove the laundry when the cycle ends and use a clean container for transport. Check the drying authorization before moving to another machine. A large machine still requires checking bulky items and individual item limits.

If the laundry requires a treatment for bedbugs, coordinate it with the service in advance and transport it without spreading the infestation. Other contamination must be reported to the operator to confirm acceptance; do not treat the shared laundry as an automatic alternative for laundry that is excluded at home.

Keep the machine ID and receipt in case of an issue; the operator should resolve payment or start-up failures.
