Cleaning an automatic tank outside the washer and flushing its lines are different tasks. The manual should indicate which container is removed, which areas may get wet, and whether there is a maintenance program.
Before emptying the system
Identify the name of the system, the compartments, and the product each one contains. Check whether cleaning is needed when changing formulas, if it has been inactive for a long time, or if a maintenance instruction appears. Do not top off a tank with a mixture of products to avoid having to empty it.
In the family described by Whirlpool for its Load & Go dispenser, cleanings are indicated when changing the contents and before a long shutdown. These are conditions for that system, not permission to introduce water into any automatic tank.
Removable tank: follow the documented access
- Disable dosing and prepare the machine as the manual directs to remove the container.
- Collect the remaining product and dispose of it according to the label. Do not mix it with waste from other cleaners.
- Open only the covers and parts intended for the user. Protect contacts, sensors, and connectors from water.
- Clean and rinse only the allowed areas. If the thickened detergent does not come out that way, do not add solvents or use objects to puncture the lines.
- Leave the surfaces in the required dry condition and reassemble the container. Confirm that it is seated properly before refilling.
The internal tubes may require a different routine
A clean tank does not prove that its suction lines are clean. If there is a scheduled purge, use the approved medium and container. In Miele TwinDos, circuit maintenance is carried out with a dedicated function; it is not replaced by a drum cycle.
When using the appliance again, confirm that the content matches the compartment and review the automatic dosing settings. If it does not draw in, loses product, or the alert continues after maintenance is finished, check the dosing fault check without opening pumps or internal connections.
Before a long absence, decide on emptying or maintaining the circuit with the available manual; do not wait for the detergent to dry out.
