LOC or LC indicates that Control Lock is active on a compatible front-load Whirlpool washer. Turn it off using the control indicated on your model's panel or in the manual.
Locate the Control Lock control
The manufacturer documentation says that some models have a dedicated button, while others assign the function to another control. Look for the lock label on the panel and check the manual to see whether it requires a tap or a long press. There is no single valid button combination for all Whirlpool washers.
After the operation, verify that LOC/LC disappears and that you can select an option. If the panel still does not respond, note whether it remains lit and whether it shows a different message. Do not hold down buttons at random: you could activate another function.
Control Lock and the door are different things
Turning off LOC does not release a door that the cycle keeps locked because of water, temperature, or movement. Wait for the normal opening and consult the child lock limits to distinguish between the functions.
If LOC/LC does not appear and there is also no visible power, the problem is not explained by Control Lock. If the manual procedure does not work, provide the model, the label of the button used, and the screen status to support.
Deactivation should restore panel control; it does not require forcing the door or tampering with the lock.
