F8 E1, LF, and Lo FL are related to insufficient water supply or filling too slowly on documented Whirlpool front-load and top-load HE models. Confirm the match in your model's manual.
Check the water that actually reaches the machine
The manufacturer documentation distinguishes between platforms even when it groups these alerts together. On a dual-inlet machine, a cold cycle does not necessarily eliminate the need to supply the hot inlet as well. Make sure both faucets are open when the installation requires it.
- Check whether household water is available and whether the failure started after an outage, a move, or a shutoff valve being closed.
- Inspect the accessible hoses: a kinked hose behind the appliance can restrict flow. Do not pull the machine by its connections.
- If the manual allows cleaning the inlet screens, turn off the water and get the tools ready before disconnecting the hose. The guide to inlet screens explains that maintenance.
If water enters but the cycle does not move on
Note whether water is draining out at the same time; there may be an installation that encourages siphoning. Compare the height and connection with the manual, without using measurements from another washer. During the protection phase, some platforms drain and stop responding temporarily: wait for the indicated sequence before canceling.
If water is available and the alert returns, request a diagnosis. The code by itself does not identify a faulty water inlet valve.
Recording whether filling never starts or starts and then stops helps distinguish between the two paths.
