HC / HE / HE1 Error in Samsung Washers: Heater Failure

HC, HE, and HE1 identify a heater anomaly in documented Samsung units. The exact meaning depends on the appliance and whether it is washing or drying.

The Samsung classification separates these messages from tC/tE temperature-detection errors. Clothes coming out cold does not confirm which part of the circuit has failed.

Stop heating tests

Record the interrupted stage and the full message. Do not select a highest-temperature wash to reproduce it, and do not try to open a tub that may retain hot water.

If the manual allows a recovery step and there is no leak, damage, or unusual odor, follow that instruction. Repeated HC/HE errors require inspection of the heating system and its controls; it is not solved by replacing heating elements and sensors one after another.

On a washer-dryer, this indicates whether the wash had finished and the alarm appeared while drying. That information does not make the codes from a standalone Samsung dryer applicable to the combo unit.

Request service if the code returns; avoid using the affected heating function until you receive instructions for that model.
