If there is water left in the tub, first confirm that a water hold is not selected. If the requested drain does not work, check the outlet path without opening a filter under water load.
Confirm that water is being retained
Damp clothes and standing water are not the same thing. If the tub has already drained, continue with no spin. If it still has water, check the active setting and the drain command in the manual, as long as there are no leaks, odors, or electrical signs.
Check the accessible parts
- Look to see whether the hose is crushed or bent in its external section.
- Check whether the household drain is backing up or draining poorly. An external blockage can also keep the machine from completing the drain cycle.
- Note whether the pump stays silent, hums, or seems to run without moving water. No sound alone confirms that the flow is sufficient.
- If the manual includes an accessible filter, first prepare the safe draining and then its cleaning.
Access varies, and some models do not have a user filter, as the Whirlpool guide to drainage problems explains. Do not remove panels looking for a filter that the manual does not mention.
When the outlet is clear and the problem persists
The pump, its internal hoses, or the control command need to be checked. The pump diagnostics separate blockage, mechanical failure, and power supply. If there is a lot of foam, also note the product and dosage.
Do not open the door or cap abruptly to speed up draining; first regain control of the water that is still inside.
