When spin drying fails, first check whether the program allows it, the tub drains, and the load can be balanced. Wet laundry does not prove a bad motor.
Water retained or insufficient extraction
If you see water collecting, start with the lack of drainage. If the tub is empty, check that you did not select spin cancel or a program that limits speed to protect fabrics.
Whirlpool includes speed selection, lid, load, and suds among the checks in its spin and drain guide. The proper speed also depends on the clothing care labels.
Check the load without forcing it by banging
A single heavy item can make distribution difficult. When the program has stopped and opening is allowed, follow the load distribution instructions in the manual. Do not routinely overfill the drum or repeat tests if it bangs, shifts, or rubs.
Note whether it fails every time, only with certain items, or after a move. Spinning with less weight may point to balance or drive capacity, but it does not confirm the suspension, belt, or motor.
If it limits the speed again
The excessive vibration needs its own diagnosis. Without a clear external problem, a technician should check the drive and speed signal according to the appliance. Direct-drive motors do not necessarily use the parts of a belt-driven transmission.
Do not compensate for a fault by increasing the speed: use only settings that are compatible with the clothing and stop the test if mechanical signs return.
