A kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, or outdoor area is not suitable simply by name. The location must meet environmental, electrical, plumbing, and access conditions for the appliance and the local installation.
Evaluate the location as a whole
Check that the water supply and drainage are compatible, proper electrical supply support, and ventilation are adequate. The path of hoses and cable must not be strained by the chosen position.
Humidity, rain, frost, heat, and sun exposure can exceed the conditions expected for a household appliance. Partial covering does not prove protection from water or permission for outdoor use. In bathrooms, location and clearance requirements relative to water must be resolved according to local rules and by a competent installer.
Access for the user and for servicing
- Door or lid that opens enough and allows reach to the back of the load.
- Controls that are visible and reachable without unsafe positions.
- Clear space for baskets and for removing clothes.
- Access to the faucet, disconnection, and maintenance points.
- Ability to remove the unit without improvised dismantling.
The space dimensions must account for those operations. In basements or upper floors, you must also consider the floor and support and the destination of any possible leak.
Protection of the space
The drip trays or detectors may limit certain damage, but they do not make a location suitable if it does not meet the conditions. A cabinet must still allow ventilation and servicing. Protection during frost or downtime requires different measures from a normal-use installation.
Choose the place where operation, access, and disconnection can all be met at the same time, not just where the unit will fit.
