Move or transport a washing machine and reinstall it

Transporting a washing machine requires removing residual water and securing the moving parts according to the manual. The transport position and approved restraints depend on the design.

Prepare the route and disconnect it

Before disconnecting any connections, measure steps, turns, and access points and arrange suitable handling equipment. A heavy appliance needs planned support and assistance; do not lift it by the door, detergent drawer, fittings, or controls.

  1. Finish or cancel the cycle using the appropriate recovery procedure.
  2. Isolate the power supply and shut off the water at safe points.
  3. Let it cool when applicable and perform the approved residual draining, preparing containment.
  4. Remove and secure hoses and the power cord as directed.
  5. Install the transport locks required by the model and protect any protruding parts.

Position and securing during transport

There is no general permission to tip a washing machine on its side. The allowed orientation, tie-down points, and restrictions can vary for combined units with other internal systems. Follow the manual and tell the carrier the type of appliance.

Do not improvise bolts if the originals are missing, and do not tighten structural fasteners to immobilize the drum. Get compatible parts before moving it when they are needed.

Returning it to service

At the new location, you must verify the supplies, support, and connection route again. Remove any locks that need to come off, level it, and run the initial test. Do not impose a waiting time taken from another appliance; use the one specified for that design and transport.

A move is not finished until the reinstallation has been checked, not when the machine is placed in its new space.
