How to Check and Machine Wash Stuffed Animals

A stuffed animal needs machine-wash approval for the whole item. A washable-surface indication only allows the surface care described; it does not imply immersion.

Check structure and components

Look for the label and inspect seams, eyes, decorations, and stuffing. A sound or electrical element may be removable by design, but you should not open seams or handle wiring to take it out. If a part does not come off and excludes washing, the whole toy is out.

An open seam can release material. Do not put a damaged stuffed animal in to clean it before deciding how to repair or remove the piece.

Complete the authorized treatment

  1. Prepare dirt and removable parts according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. Use the indicated protection, including a laundry bag if applicable.
  3. Select a product, cycle, and amount compatible with the toy and the machine.
  4. Remove carefully and dry using the permitted method.
  5. Check that the inside is dry and the accessories are still attached before putting it back into use.

Hygiene and routine care

A gentle cycle does not prove disinfection. If reducing mites or allergens is required, check that the stuffed animal allows the documented treatment; if not, consult the appropriate alternative. The presence of a baby also does not authorize heat or disinfectants that the toy excludes.

If you cannot confirm the condition of the stuffing after drying, or if damage appears, follow the manufacturer’s instructions before using it again.

Before putting the stuffed animal back into use, check that the stuffing is dry and the accessories are attached, as well as its outer appearance.
