FE / E04 / E12 Error in LG Washers: Overfill Detected

FE, E04, and E12 indicate overfill in documented LG front-loaders. If the water level keeps rising or there is overflow, stopping the water supply takes priority over clearing the code.

The LG front-load table groups these codes. The alert does not let you choose between water inlet, level detection, or control without diagnosis.

Distinguish what you are actually seeing

  • Water that keeps coming in with the cycle stopped: note that observation and close the valve; do not recreate it by opening it again as a test.
  • Water added through the dispenser: stop adding liquids and explain what was added. The tub should not be filled by hand to change a program.
  • Message without a visible high water level: checking the detection may be required. Do not add water just to make what you see match the alert.

If there is a leak, avoid handling wet plugs or connections. Disconnect the power from a dry, safe place if you can, or ask for help. Do not start repeated washes to check whether it overflows again.

If the message is PE, follow its water level reading path. If AE is triggered, also record the leak detection. Repeated FE with the external conditions corrected needs technical service.

Keep the sequence of messages and the water progression; a controlled overflow does not authorize restarting without clarifying the cause.
