Ed1 to Ed5 belong to the LG ezDispense system. The number distinguishes detergent dispensing, fabric softener dispensing, and communication; not all of them are resolved by cleaning the drawer.
| Code | Documented issue |
|---|---|
| Ed1 / Ed2 | Detergent: pump failure / open circuit detection. |
| Ed3 / Ed4 | Fabric softener: pump failure / open circuit detection. |
| Ed5 | System communication. |
The classification comes from the official ezDispense help. It describes what the unit detects; it does not authorize replacing a pump or board without checking the circuit.
Accessible product and residue
For Ed1 to Ed4, check which reservoir has been filled and whether the product is compatible with automatic dispensing. Clean only the areas and parts that the manual identifies as user maintenance, with the appliance stopped. Do not insert needles into channels or disassemble the pumps.
Ed5 requires following the manual’s specific communication recovery procedure. If it returns, cleaning the reservoir again does not confirm or correct that connection.
An empty reservoir and dcL nozzle-cleaning mode are different states. Photograph the full number to avoid an Ed3 inquiry turning into an intervention on the detergent.
If the alert persists after the permitted checks, report the affected reservoir, the product used, and the exact code.
