E40/E41 on Electrolux indicates a door or lid that is not properly closed or recognized. Four beeps or flashes may signal this condition on a compatible control panel.
Check the part that should close
The manufacturer documentation covers front-loaders, top-loaders, and compatible washer-dryers. Use the PNC manual to identify the latch; do not look for the latch from a front-loader in the design of a top-loader.
Stop the appliance and open it when possible. Remove clothing from the gasket and opening; reduce the load if it is pushing outward. Check that there is no visible obstruction and close it again gently.
When the panel still shows the door open
A mechanical-looking closure does not ensure it has been recognized. If the model includes a mechanical child lock, consult its specific operation before moving it: not all models have one, and it is not the same as the control lock.
Make only the retry your manual specifies after correcting the fit. If the alert returns with the path clear, request service. If the door will not release, use the door and lid safety procedure before looking for an emergency release.
Keep this if the fault happens at startup or after washing has already started; these are different observations for service.
