If a semi-automatic washer does not empty or loses water during the wash cycle, first determine whether it drains by gravity or with a pump. In manual systems, both issues can depend on the selector and the outlet valve.
If it does not drain
Confirm the drain position on the control and check whether the external hose is crushed or blocked. Compare its routing with the model manual. Do not copy the height of an automatic washer with a pump.
Haier documents a low gravity drain outlet in its hose routing guidance for certain twin tubs. Its measurements and modifications belong to that setup; they do not justify cutting any hose.
If it does not hold water
Check that the selector stayed on wash and that there is no drain command still active. If the control does not make the expected change or water keeps flowing out, the mechanism, drive cable, or valve should be inspected according to the design.
An object may prevent the closure, but do not insert tools toward the valve from the tub. Inspection of internal channels requires authorized access.
If the model has a pump
The path includes the drain pump and its control; do not attribute the problem to a gravity valve that the machine may not use. To recover retained water, consult the conditions for safe draining.
Do not bypass the valve or improvise a plug to retain water: the appliance must be able to switch between washing and draining in a controlled way.
