Pressure switch and level sensor: troubleshooting faults

Level diagnosis should include the pressure chamber, hose, and sensor. Replacing only the pressure switch can leave a blockage or leak that continues to affect the reading.

Identify the type of detection

A mechanical pressure switch can switch contacts; an electronic sensor delivers a signal that has to be interpreted differently. There may also be configurations without the same hose and chamber assembly.

See how the washer measures water level to distinguish functions before looking for values. A click does not validate all the thresholds of a mechanical device, nor is it a valid test for an electronic one.

What is checked in each part

Circuit partDiagnostic question
Pressure chamber and pathDoes the level information reach it without obstruction?
Hose and connectionsDo they maintain connection, integrity, and airtightness?
Sensor and wiringDoes the signal match the conditions of the documented test?
ControlDoes it correctly interpret the signal received?

Overfillingcontinuous pumping, or cycle that does not end are reasons to investigate, not confirmations of the same part.

Intervention and calibration

Access and measurements are for qualified personnel. Do not blow into the sensor or adjust screws: improvised pressure or settings can damage it or alter the reference. Only perform cleaning or calibration when the manufacturer specifies how to do it.

After a compatible replacement, the level behavior must be checked within the cycle, not just an isolated signal on the workbench.
