A solenoid valve can fail to open or close, but a lack of water may also come from the supply or the control. Continuity of the coil does not prove that it seals properly.
Separate the behaviors
If not enough water enters, first check the supply, hose, and screens using the approved procedure. If water enters while it is off, mechanical closure and external backflow must be investigated.
In a multi-way valve, the fault may affect only one inlet or path. Diagnosing hot and cold inlets avoids blaming the entire assembly without checking each function.
What the service should include
The compatible replacement must respect the ports, connectors, and hydraulic connections. Before access, power and supply are isolated and residual water is contained.
The Electrolux procedure for its documented valve pays attention to gaskets, connectors, and clamps during reassembly. The access method and fasteners in that example are not a universal procedure.
Replacement must preserve the routing of the lines and restore the intended seals. Afterward, filling, closure, and absence of leaks are checked with the appliance fully assembled.
Tests that require documentation
The coil, power supply, and control sequence are evaluated using the applicable wiring diagram. Do not power the valve outside the appliance or try to repair a sealed diaphragm if the manufacturer does not allow that operation.
The repair should explain whether the problem was opening, flow, or sealing; these are different functions of the same part.
