Interpret each symbol by its position and by the manual legend: it may select a function, indicate a phase, or warn of a status. The same image does not guarantee the same function across machines.
Separate controls from indicators
First locate the cycle selector and the start or pause button. Then identify the settings that go with the program: temperature, spin speed, and additional options. A light next to an option usually shows that it has been selected; an indicator in the phase sequence may show progress. Confirm both readings in the manual.
- Get the model from the accessible nameplate and open its manual, avoiding instructions for a similar panel.
- Find the panel illustration and match each number in the legend to the physical control.
- Check whether a short press and a long press have different functions; do not try random combinations.
- Review what remains active when you recall a saved program, including sound signals and delayed start.
When the panel seems locked
A padlock may refer to child lock or to the door safety lock. Turning off one does not guarantee that the other will open. If an option cannot be changed, it may be limited by the program or by the current phase.
Note the full message, when it appears, and whether the wash keeps running. Do not turn every letter or number into an error code: the display may also show time, speed, or a reminder. To change a cycle in progress, follow the procedure for pause and cancel.
Clothing care label icons serve a different purpose: they set care limits. You can read them in garment care symbols.
