On a semi-automatic machine, you need to complete the operations the appliance does not handle. On a twin-tub machine, washing and spinning have separate spaces and limits, so it may be necessary to split the load when transferring it.
Identify controls and capacities
Locate the wash timer, drain selector, water inlet, and spin timer when present. Check the weight rating for each listed capacity and the maximum for each compartment. Do not transfer the wash amount directly to the spin basket.
Operating sequence
- Sort the laundry and check the detergent, load, and water level allowed by the manual.
- Set the wash and fill selector to the indicated position; do not exceed the markings or add hotter water than allowed.
- Add detergent using the intended method and set a compatible wash time.
- When finished, drain using the machine control and complete the approved rinse, with the water and stages specified in the manual.
- When transfer is required, wait until all involved mechanisms have completely stopped. Distribute the laundry in the basket within its limit.
- Install the internal safety cover if the design requires it, close the lids, and select the allowed spin cycle.
- Wait for everything to stop before removing the laundry; finish draining, water supply, and disconnection according to the instructions.
The LG PT1300R/P1500RTW manual, for example, distinguishes capacities and the preparation of the spin cover. Do not copy its times or levels to another twin-tub machine.
Safe interruptions
Do not transfer clothes while mechanisms are running or disable lids. If there is excessive vibration, stop and wait before redistributing the load. Also do not assume that washing, draining, and spinning at the same time is allowed. The detergent dose and the load must be adjusted to the actual process, without adding new amounts for each transfer.
Complete each transfer with the mechanisms stopped and check the limit of the tub that will receive the laundry again.
