Cleaning Dye Residue Inside the Washing Machine

Identify the dye and check its instructions along with the washer's. A color stain may be transferable residue or pigment in the material; do not choose a chemical based on the color you see.

Check that use of the dye was allowed

Not all household dyes are approved for all machines. The manual 937815 published by Gorenje/ASKO contains restrictions on dyes and bleaching products. That limitation shows why the dye label does not replace the appliance manual.

Gather the product name, application method, and program used. If it is not authorized or you do not know the substance, consult before adding another treatment.

Check the places where product may remain

  1. With the machine empty and ready for manual cleaning, inspect the drum, gasket, and dispenser.
  2. Remove visible residue using the compatible method indicated by both manufacturers. Do not scrape or add an oxidizing or reducing agent to test.
  3. Clean the folds of the gasket and the dispenser drawer when they are affected, respecting materials and access points.
  4. Run the authorized follow-up cycle specified by the dye and the appliance. Complete the required rinse before washing again.

Assess transfer and pigmentation cautiously

If the instructions allow you to wipe the clean area with a damp light-colored cloth, see whether it picks up color. The absence of transfer on a reachable surface does not prove that the entire circuit is free of dye. Also check whether residue remains in folds and compartments.

A rubber seal may retain color after the surface residue has been removed. Do not extend soaking or use abrasives to restore its original tone. If it still transfers or there is any doubt about the treatment, consult the manufacturer before loading delicate garments.

The selection of cleaning products should be based on compatibility, not on how severe the stain looks.

Do not guarantee that all pigmentation will disappear: the practical standard is to complete the allowed procedure and rinse away any persistent transfer.
