UltraFresh Vent manages interior moisture in certain GE front-load washers. It is used with the drum empty and the door closed; it does not replace the cleaning cycle or dispenser and other component maintenance tasks.
Check that your machine has the feature
Look for UltraFresh Vent in the manual and on the model’s controls. It is not enough for the washer to be GE or to have a gasket of a certain color. The official GE explanation of UltraFresh Vent limits the feature to compatible equipment and describes air circulation through intermittent basket movements.
After removing the laundry
- Let the cycle finish and remove the entire load.
- Check for any visible items or residue in the opening. Do not add cleaner to run the venting function.
- Close the door and select UltraFresh Vent using the panel prompt for your model.
- Let it finish, or use the cancel control indicated in its manual.
On GE-described models, the door stays locked during the feature and there are gentle spins separated by pauses. That intermittent action is part of the process; by itself, it does not mean a wash has stalled. If the panel or sequence does not match, consult the manual for the variant, without trying key combinations from another family.
What still needs cleaning
Inspect the gasket and dispenser: drying the interior does not confirm that residue has been removed. Keep up with manual tasks and the specific tub-cleaning cycle specified by GE for the machine.
An odor that continues after venting calls for checking dirt buildup and any maintenance still pending. Do not take the OdorBlock name as proof that the appliance has been disinfected. To decide what to do after a load on machines without this feature, see drying and venting after use.
Select the feature by its exact name in the manual and keep up with the rest of the maintenance: drying and removing deposits are different tasks.
