Clean the two tubs separately: in the wash tub, check for residue, the pulsator, and any present lint traps; in the spin tub, check the basket and accessible rim. Draining and any rinsing should follow that semi-automatic model's manual.
Before cleaning by hand
Finish the cycle and wait until all parts have come to a complete stop. Drain it using the intended system and disconnect the power so you can access the cleaning areas. Do not put your hand into a basket that is still spinning, and do not bypass the lid lock.
Identify whether the drainage is by gravity or by pump. This determines the permitted draining method; do not tilt the appliance or switch hoses to improvise it. If the water does not drain as it should, fix that issue before filling it again.
An independent check for each tub
- Wash tub: remove visible solids and wipe the walls, rim, and surface of the pulsator with a soft cloth. Do not loosen its screw or insert tools under the plate.
- Spin tub: check the empty basket, the opening, and the inner lid if there is one. Remove only the part the manual allows you to take out; do not insert cloths between the basket and its housing.
- Lint traps and overflow: locate the lint filter and any intended maintenance parts. The overflow may have its own assembly; do not remove a cover just because it looks similar to one from another model.
Protect the controls, cord, motor, and cabinet from water. Cleaning one tub does not authorize rinsing the entire appliance with a hose.
Rinsing and drying
Use the filling, agitation, or rinsing procedure described in the manual for maintenance. Not all two-tub machines have self-cleaning or allow hot water. Select a compatible product only when it is intended.
After draining, inspect both tubs: residue may have moved from one to the other when transferring the laundry. Reinstall the traps and retaining parts, dry the accessible surfaces, and leave the lids in a safe venting position.
If dirt remains under a pulsator that cannot be removed by the user, the next step is to consult its technical service instructions, not force it off to see.
