tE is a thermal anomaly in documented LG front-loaders, usually related to temperature detection. It does not by itself confirm that the heating element is burned out.
The LG explanation links tE to a heating error and its thermal detection. To narrow it down, note the selected cycle and whether it appears at the start or after the wash has been running for a while.
Avoid turning the check into another heat test
Do not select the hottest cycle or touch the glass to decide whether the heating element is working. Water and surfaces can retain heat even after the panel has stopped. Wait until the lock allows you to open it; cutting the power does not cool the tub.
If the manual provides a drain or reset procedure for tE, follow its sequence only when there are no signs of damage. Repetition requires checking the thermal system and its connections.
Keep the exact notation: HE and dHE have other meanings in the same documentation. Do not drop the initial letter or simply report “temperature error,” because that would lose information needed for diagnosis.
Request service if tE returns; have the model number and cycle noted, and do not run additional hot cycles to confirm the fault.
