In a top-load washer with a horizontal drum, open or stuck inner doors can block rotation. Stop using it and do not try to realign them by forcing the drum to turn.
Confirm that this is the design
This issue affects the horizontal drum with opening flaps inside an outer lid. A top-loader with a vertical agitator does not use that same assembly. If only the outer lid will not open, check lid lock.
Signs that justify stopping the appliance
A bang followed by immobility, an opening that is no longer aligned, or a suspicion that the flaps opened during the spin cycle require inspection. Do not run another cycle to make the drum return to position.
Safely disconnect the power supply. Do not insert screwdrivers, rods, or wire through the holes: you could damage the flaps, latches, tub, or heater and make the jam worse.
What the service technician should check
They should locate the drum position, check the doors and their retention, and rule out damage to nearby surfaces. Recovery depends on access to that assembly and may require disassembly.
Report whether the flaps closed before the wash, when the bang was heard, and whether resistance is felt. There is no need to reproduce the mechanical jam to provide that information.
Freeing the drum is not enough if the inner latch was damaged: it must also be checked that the doors latch properly again.
