A washable cover does not mean the core can be washed. Check the protector, cover, and filling separately, and only wash the whole item when both the label and the machine allow it.
Read the filling label
Identify whether it is fiber, down, foam, latex, or another construction, without assuming washability from the name. Some cores only allow surface care. Do not remove a permanent cover or open seams to try to wash something that is excluded.
Check the seams and any possible filling leaks. A damaged pillow can release material inside the washer; repair it or follow the manufacturer’s alternative before getting it wet.
Wash only an item that is allowed
- Check the capacity and individual-item restrictions in the manual.
- Distribute the load as the appliance directs, without assuming you must always wash two items.
- Use detergent, cycle, and spin settings that are compatible with the filling.
- Remove the item while supporting its wet weight.
- Complete the approved drying, checking the inside before putting on a cover or storing it.
Assess the finish
Do not set a fixed number of hours to make sure any core is dry. Its density, construction, and approved method change the result. If you cannot check or complete the drying, consult the manufacturer before using it again.
For a need for dust mite control, confirm that the hygienic treatment and pillow care are compatible. Heating an excluded filling is not an alternative.
Reassemble the cover and protector only when the approved core has finished drying and remains in good condition.
