Microfiber cloths are washed according to their product and purpose. Before mixing them with laundry, identify what they picked up: residue from a cleaner can affect their use and compatibility.
Separate ordinary dirt and chemical residue
Remove loose particles using the allowed method. Distinguish cloths used with water or household dirt from those soaked with fuels, solvents, or unknown substances. In those latter cases, do not start a wash just to remove odor: consult the applicable procedure.
Cleaning cloths and detachable pads may have seams, reinforcements, or different surfaces. Check that the manufacturer allows the entire textile piece to be separated and washed.
Preserve cleaning performance
Wash separately from textiles that shed a lot of lint. Check the restriction on fabric softener and bleach: E-Cloth excludes these products in its instructions for the general-purpose cloth, but its temperatures should not be applied to all microfiber.
- Measure detergent for the actual load and level of soil.
- Select the cycle and temperature limit for the cloth or pad.
- Complete the rinse without adding fragrance or conditioner to hide residue.
- Dry as the product instructs and check for cleanliness before using it again.
If fibers remain attached, review the sorting and source of the lint. If there is workplace or hazardous contamination, apply the workwear assessment and the substance instructions. This washing does not replace professional clinical disinfection processes.
Keep cloths used with chemicals identified so you can decide how to care for them before gathering them with other textiles.
