E04 Warning in the Sharp ES-FW family of washing machines: imbalance warning

E04 indicates an imbalance in the documented Sharp ES-FW family. Spreading out tangled garments and adjusting the load may let the spin cycle recover without attributing the warning to a component.

The match is listed in the Singapore ES-FW manual. Another Sharp model may use E04 differently, so you should keep the model and the leading zero.

Adjust the distribution to the actual load

Pause and wait for the movement to stop and for the door to unlock. If one garment wraps around the others, untangle the bundle and redistribute the clothes. A very small load of heavy items may be hard to balance; check the manual for how to adjust it without exceeding the program capacity.

Do not routinely add more clothes to an already full load or increase the spin speed to override the alarm. Also check that the machine is resting stably when it is stopped.

If E04 repeats with normal, evenly distributed, and compatible loads, request an evaluation. The warning does not identify a motor or shock absorber fault and does not justify replacing them by elimination.

Let us know whether it happens with a single item or with different loads; this helps assess whether the recurrence depends on the load.
