Hotpoint Error F06: door latch failure

F06 in the European Hotpoint catalog corresponds to a door latch failure. Distinguish whether it does not close, does not open, or is closed but prevents startup.

If it does not close

The manufacturer's documentation directs you to check for visible obstructions in the latch. With the appliance stopped and the door opening normally, remove any trapped clothing and check whether the load is pressing against the door. Do not insert tools into the strike or hit the handle.

If it is closed and does not start

Record whether it tries to lock, whether F06 appears immediately, and whether it has taken in water. A door that looks closed may not be recognized. If it is clear and the alert persists, request service.

If it does not open after the wash

Check whether the cycle has finished and whether there is still water or high temperature. Do not apply a closing maneuver to the opposite case. The operation of the door and safety lock requires waiting for normal release and consulting the manual before any emergency opening.

Keep the model and the European platform in mind when asking for help; do not extrapolate the meaning to North American Hotpoint models. If the fault persists, a system diagnosis is required and bypassing the safety lock is not authorized.

Describe which of the three situations is happening: does not close, does not start, or does not release.
