Hotpoint F05 Error: Drain, Clog, or Pump Problem

F05 on European Hotpoint models refers to a drain clog or pump problem. It can leave water inside and the door locked.

Water left inside before retrieving clothes

The manufacturer documentation suggests checking the filter when the model has user access, the hose, and the connections under the sink. Do not force the door even if you need to remove garments: first check the water level and complete a safe drain.

Look for kinks in the hose and whether the household drain is also clogged. If the fault started after the appliance was installed, compare the connection and height with the manual.

Filter only through the intended access

Stop and disconnect the machine safely; let the water cool and prepare a container. Use the gradual draining described by Hotpoint before removing the filter. Clean out accessible debris and close it tightly again. Cleaning the drain filter explains that preparation.

If the path is clear but F05 returns, request service. There may be an internal failure, but the code and a pumping noise are not enough to choose a replacement pump. This table does not automatically apply to North American Hotpoint platforms.

Report whether water remains inside and whether the door stays locked; both details describe the result of the drain cycle.
