The drain filter or plug is leaking water

If the leak started after cleaning the filter, check that it is seated and sealed properly. First isolate the appliance and remove the water in a controlled way; do not open a plug when the tub is full.

Prepare the inspection

Use the emergency drain in the manual and wait until there is no hot water. The access point you need is the drain pump filter, not an inlet screen or lint filter.

What to inspect without forcing anything

  • Debris in the seat preventing the gasket from sitting properly.
  • Gasket cut, shifted, or deformed.
  • Cross-threading, incomplete closure, or a plug that does not reach its intended position.
  • Cracks or visible damage on the plug and housing.

Electrolux recommends checking the closure and the absence of leaks in its guidance on filter leaks. The force, final position, and locking method depend on the model.

Do not use tools to overcome unusual resistance. Also do not add tape or silicone: they could prevent proper seating or make the next opening difficult.

When a part needs to be replaced

A damaged seal or plug must be identified by the parts breakdown; a cracked housing may require checking the pump assembly. If the leak continues after restoring the approved installation, stop using it and request service.

Routine cleaning and sealing are different checks: a clean filter can still leak if its gasket or closure is not correct.
