How to assess and replace the door gasket

The gasket should be evaluated for replacement when it has cuts, deformation, or wear that affect the seal. A stain or removable dirt does not by itself mean the bellows is unusable.

Match the damage to the leak

Locate the point ofloss at the doorand see whether it matches a cut, trapped garment, or rubbing. If the drum ismisaligned or has play, that cause should be corrected to avoid damaging the new seal.

A repeated mark in the same spot may point to mechanical contact. Do not blame all wear on the cleaning product without inspecting position and objects.

What changes between bellows

Drains, auxiliary openings, seat profiles, and clamps depend on the model. Use theparts diagram reference; a gasket with a similar diameter can leave a poorly positioned path.

Scope of the replacement

Preparation includes disconnecting, shutting off the supply, removing water, and documenting access. Some units allow the bellows to be released from the opening; others require removing the front panel. Do not assume that a video of another machine shows the correct access.

Installation must respect orientation, seating surfaces, and retaining elements, avoiding pinching or twisting the seal. With the guards restored, check closure, rotation without rubbing, and watertightness.

Adhesives are not a standard fix for a tear. If any edges remain that catch on clothing, thedamage to the fabricsshould also be investigated.

A new seal does not make up for a sagging door or a drum that rubs against it; the cause of the contact must be corrected.
