Auto-dosing delivers product through a reservoir or cartridge system. The amount depends on the settings and sensors available; automatic dosing does not mean it directly measures all dirt.
From stored product to the tub
The system keeps detergent in a refillable reservoir or uses a designated cartridge. A pump or dispensing mechanism introduces a measured amount into the path to the wash. The automatic system described by LG SIGNATURE illustrates storage for multiple loads; other product lines use different circuits and settings.
What information it can use
- Base dose: starting point set for the product or reference load.
- Concentration: relates dispensed volume to the effective amount of product.
- Water hardness: may require manual adjustment or be part of the documented setup.
- Load and sensors: can adjust the amount if the program and machine support that function.
A machine can estimate weight without measuring turbidity, or dispense from a base dose without recognizing the fabric. Check what each sensor estimates before attributing capabilities to the reservoir that belong to the control system.
Compatibility and manual alternatives
The product must match the reservoir, its supported viscosity, and the manufacturer’s conditions. Do not mix different liquids or reuse a sealed cartridge without instructions. Changing concentration without adjusting the reference can alter the dose even if the mechanism works correctly.
Some cycles allow dosing to be disabled or a manual compartment to be used; others impose restrictions. The initial setup helps you find the available settings. Cleaning or a persistent failure to dispense require their own specific procedures.
Identify what determines the dose in your model before deciding whether the result comes from the setting, the product, or the dispensing.
