Where to Put Detergent, Fabric Softener, and Additives

Place each product in the compartment and phase indicated by the label and the manual together. The fabric softener compartment, the main wash compartment, and a bleach dispenser are not interchangeable.

Identifying the dispenser

I usually indicates prewash, II main wash, and a flower indicates fabric softener, but these are conventions you should confirm in the model legend. Some units add a separate chlorine dispenser; others dispense products directly into the drum or through automatic reservoirs.

  1. Check which compartments your machine has and which function is active.
  2. If you use liquid, check the position of the insert that the drawer may require. Do not use parts from another model.
  3. Measure the product dose. Stay within the compartment maximum, which is not the same as a recommended dose.
  4. Close the drawer as the manual says and make sure no concentrated product remains on clothes or surfaces.

Products that are not placed the same way

The pods may be intended for the drum; do not place them in a liquid reservoir because of their contents. Fabric softener usually acts during the rinse cycle and needs its own feed path. For chlorine bleach, use only an approved setup.

With prewash, check how the product is distributed between phases. With delayed start, make sure it will not be released too early or remain on a garment. If the dispenser does not empty, distinguishing incorrect placement from dirt or a malfunction requires another check; switching compartments does not fix the problem.

If the product remains in the dispenser, investigate the intended discharge; using another compartment may dispense it in the wrong phase.
