SUD / SUd / 5d / Sd warning on Samsung washers: excess suds

SUD, SUd, 5d, and Sd are readings associated with excess suds on documented Samsung machines. An automatic pause may be part of the recovery process and does not mean a part needs to be replaced.

The official chart groups different segment-display readings. Keep the photo, especially when an S looks like a 5.

While the suds are reducing

If there is no leak or other risk, let the model's cycle continue. Do not add fabric softener, vinegar, or any other product to knock down the suds. Repeatedly turning the machine off can also interrupt the intended recovery.

If water is leaking out, stop using it and address the leak; do not keep waiting just because the code is related to suds. Also do not open a filter or door if hot water is still trapped inside.

Check the actual dosage

Check the detergent's compatibility, its concentration, and how much you added for that load. A normal dose can become excessive when you switch products or wash less clothing. Residue in the dispenser or drum can keep creating suds in the next wash.

Run the rinse or maintenance cycle in the manual and correct the usage. If the issue continues with the right product and dosage, request service without assuming the suds prove the pump is faulty.

Record the product and amount, including any additives or detergent added before washing: this helps identify a repeat issue tied to usage.
